Dan Smith is a saxophonist and composer who lives in London. Initially inspired by the sounds of Charlie Parker, Cannonball Adderley and Michael Brecker, Dan has been writing music for and leading his own groups since the age of 16. A winner of the Yamaha Jazz Scholarship Award, Dan is a versatile and creative saxophonist. He plays regularly on the UK jazz scene, previously performing at London Jazz Festival and Brecon Jazz Festival. Current projects include the Smith/Komor/Reynolds Trio, Howl Quartet and the Dan Smith Quartet. All are performing around the UK this year and showcasing his broad range of influences stemming from the Lee Konitz/Warne Marsh sound combined with inspiration from artists such as Ben Wendel, Bon Iver, Keith Jarrett and Chris Cheek. As well as performing on saxophone Dan is an accomplished Flautist and Clarinettist and a 1-1 peripatetic teacher.
