Dan Smith Saxophone

Dan Smith is a saxophonist, pianist and composer based in south Wales.

Initially inspired by the sounds of jazz musicians such as Charlie Parker, Stan Getz and Oscar Peterson, he has been performing and writing music since the age of 15. Having achieved a First class Bachelors degree in jazz from the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama he went on to study at the Royal Academy of Music (MA) further developing his musical skills and enriching his compositional technique where he achieved a distinction.

He is co-leader of Échappée trio, a jazz trio performing swing and be-bop. He also co-leads Howl Quartet, an award-winning contemporary music outfit.

As a multi-instrumentalist, Dan can regularly be seen performing as a pianist with renowned Welsh singer-songwriter Hannah Grace and playing saxophone/flute for international harpist Amanda Whiting.
